Emily Metzger is the proud parent of a wonderful child with a neurodevelopmental disorder. She is currently the Director of Payer Strategy and Engagement at Aledade, Inc., where she manages strategic partnerships between the value-based care start-up and payers. She is also a leader of the company's Diversabilities Employee Resource Group. Prior to joining Aledade, she worked in value-based care at Anthem Inc., primarily focused on Medicaid. Her other population health roles included health system strategy at The Health Management Academy and consulting for large, self-insured employers at Willis Towers Watson.  

Before focusing on population health, Emily spent half a decade working in mental health. She remains passionate about improving behavioral healthcare in the US and globally. She obtained her master's degree in public mental health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where her thesis examined diagnostic precision in bipolar disorder. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa in writing and psychology from the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she loves music and its history, great writing, and animals, especially dogs. She volunteers for several DC-area animal welfare organizations.
